Embowered
This piece was developed for an exhibition in 2015. The concept of the exhibition was about interaction and public engagement, breaking down the traditional tropes of seeing artworks on walls or plinths. I wanted the public to be able to physically engage with the artworks. My work in this show, was inspired by the Australian Regent Bowerbird. I created this porcelain bower that people could add to and decorate as they visited the exhibition, and it doubled as an interactive space itself, provided a place to rest and think and take in the exhibition around them.
With this piece I also won the Doug Alexander Memorial Award in 2015.
